Experience Togetherness and Faith at
Masjid Assyakirin

Assyakirin Mosque, situated at 550 Yung An Road in Singapore, underwent a S$10.2 million redevelopment, completed in late 2002, to enhance facilities for the Jurong Muslim community. This initiative, supported by fundraising from the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS), addressed the mosque’s insufficient capacity of 3,000 amidst rapid population growth in Jurong West, particularly noticeable during peak times like public holidays.

MUIS recognised the need for redevelopment as early as 1997 following a survey that indicated significant changes in the area, including new residential developments. The demolition of the nearby Majapahit Mosque in 2000 further increased potential attendees. With previously underutilised land at Assyakirin and favourable market conditions for construction materials, the redevelopment aimed to provide better services for the community.
